Archangel provides users with a quick and easy way to view a patient's wound healing data through a clinical "dashboard".
Clinicians are busy and want to see relevant information quickly and easily.
With this in mind, we built an easy-to-access and use "Clinical Dashboard" that shows patient wound healing data in a clear and concise manner. Below is the dashboard showing data for a patient (Vince John) and his wound (1-Head and Neck Anterior).

The dashboard is viewable on the Archangel Web application and is accessible by clicking on the dashboard tab in the upper left-hand-corner of the screen.

Let's take a closer look at each component of the dashboard and functions available to the user when viewing the dashboard.
Patient and Wound Drop-downs:
Select a patient from the drop-down list or use the "Search" feature by typing in first or last name to find the patient name (especially useful if you have a lot of patients):

After selecting the patient, next select the wound from the wound drop-down list:

After selecting the patient and the wound, the dashboard will auto-populate with all the assessment data for patient and wound. It is normal for it to take a few seconds for the data to load into the dashboard.
Top Row Data

Wound Status - This data element can be 1) Improving 2) Deteriorating 3) No Change. The value is determined by the direction of the 12-Factor Heal Score from the last assessment. For example, if the Heal Score in the last assessment was 11 and the previous assessment the Heal Score was 9 the status is "Improvement".
# of Assessments - This is the number of saved assessments conducted on the patient's wound.
Days since first assessment - This is calculated by taking the difference between today's date and the date of the first assessment.
Heal Goal (Days) - This is established by the clinician during treatment plan creation and can be updated by the clinician over time. The dashboard shows the last goal entered for that patient's wound. This is an optional data element and may not display a value.
Next Assessment - This is established by the clinician during the last assessment. This is an optional data element and may not display a value.
12-Factor Heal Score & Graph
The Heal Score in Archangel is calculated using 12 factors and is a key barometer to overall wound health. If the triangle is pointing up and green you know the wound is improving OR if the triangle is pointing down and red you know the wound is deteriorating. The actual score can range from +13 (best score) to -13 (worst score). The more negative the score, the more cause for concern. The 12 factors used to calculate the score are broken down into these 5 categories:
- Wound Measurement
- Wound Bed
- Exudate Amount
- Tunneling and Undermining
- Skin temperature around the wound, wound odor and pain

Wound Area (cm2) & Graph
This value is simply wound length x wound width. The graph shows the direction the value is changing over time. There is usually cause for concern if the wound area is increasing however it is up to the clinician to make that determination. The Wound area value represents a square area NOT the plyometric area of the wound nor the wound perimeter.
Healing Reduction % and Graph
This value is calculated using the following formula:
(Area on Admission - Current area) * 100 / Area on Admission
Simply stated, this is a value that describes how much the wound has healed where 100% is fully healed.
Wound Measurement
These values are the length, width and depth of the wound as captured / entered by the clinician for the latest assessment. You can see each value has a green or red triangle indicating direction of the measurement since the previous assessment.
Wound Bed
These values are the Epithelial, Granulation, Slough and Eschar % for the wound for the latest assessment. You can see each value has a green or red triangle indicating direction of the measurement since the previous assessment. However, Granulation's triangle does not indicate a color since movement up or down for the Granulation value does not indicated improvement or deterioration.
Other Data
At the bottom of the dashboard is another row of values (tunneling, undermining, and two pain) for the wound for the latest assessment). And below these are six more values for the remaining assessment data elements. Data in the table is sorted by date in descending order.
Dashboard Functions
Each part of the dashboard allows the user to view underlying data associated with that part of the dashboard. This is done by clicking on the three buttons at the top right and selecting underlying data.

When viewing underlying data, the user has the option to export the data into a PDF or spreadsheet.
Finally, each part of the dashboard also allows the user to maximize (increase the size) of the element they are looking at. This is especially helpful for graphs or charts. Maximizing the graph or chart shows it in full screen.
